Mr. Peter Maass The New York Times Magazine
Peter Maass is a contributing writer to The New York Times Magazine and author of "Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil," which is being published in September by Alfred A. Knopf. For "Crude World," which looks at oil's impact on the countries that possess it, Maass conducted research throughout the world's petroleum regions, interviewing Saudi geologists, Russian billionaires, Texas executives, Nigerian warlords, Iraqi oilmen and Venezuelan politicians, among others. In 2005 Maass wrote "The Breaking Point," a cover story for The New York Times Magazine that featured Matthew Simmons and examined the argument for peak oil. Maass is also the author of the award-winning "Love Thy Neighbor: A Story of War," which chronicled the war in Bosnia and was published by Knopf in 1996.
