Mr. John Theobald University of California, Davis

John Theobald studied international relations and resource issues at UCLA (B.A., 1980), communication and military intervention at San Diego State (M.A., 1985), and public communication and media at the University of Texas (Ph.D. candidate). His course themes include media and globalization, technology, national security, reporting, and analysis. His seminars study peak oil, ecology and communication, tourism, and the collapse of complex societies. He runs the University of California Oil Forum, an alumni-driven group that promotes energy education. Theobald is a former television news writer and a frequent commentator for various news organizations. He lives near Calistoga.
