Dr. Paul Sears Natural Resources Canada

Paul was born in the UK, and did a bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences and a Ph.D. in chemistry at Cambridge University. After a post-doctoral studentship in chemistry at the University of Western Ontario, he worked at the Institute for Aerospace Studies and then the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto, doing teaching and energy-related research. He joined the Canadian public service in 1982, doing research first in coal liquefaction, then in heavy oil upgrading and then in the integration of community energy systems. In his present post he is pursuing the ways in which ideas from the technology sector can be integrated into energy policy.
